Laurent Ponsot Grand Cru Cuvée du Kalimeris

Grand Cru Cuvée du Kalimeris Corton-Charlemagne Driven by a predilection that deems the sum far greater than its individual parts, Laurent Ponsot has blended across plots on this venerated hillside, all Grand Cru, to deliver a masterpiece. The essence of the terroir, as he sees it. Loads of toasted nuts, nougatine and the inflection of lemon oil, yellow plum and lime curd that so often defines the finest Corton-Charlemagne. A confluence of precise mineral vibrato and almost unctuous power, melded as a curvaceous whole of thrilling length. Make no mistake, this should be buried in the cellar.

Thorle Schlossberg Riesling-Trocken

Thörle Schlossberg Riesling, Rheinhessen This single vineyard wine comes from the Schlossberg Vineyard at Saulheim in the north-eastern sector of Rheinhessen, the largest of Germany’s 13 major wine-producing regions. The vineyard lies at an elevation of between 170 and 235m and is the coolest of Thörle’s three top sites. The deep clay and limestone soils effectively store heat and water. The amphitheatre-like Schlossberg has a unique microclimate, protected from winds by the surrounding hills, yet with a direct, tunnel-like connection to the Rhine which enables a constant supply of warm air to Schlossberg even on cold autumn days. Schlossberg Rieslings have finesse and are commonly mineral, delicate and earthy, with good acidity. They are Thörle’s most elegant wines. The Thörle family has been making wine at Saulheim in Germany's Rheinhessen region since the 16th century. Christoph Thörle and his brother Johannes have been running the estate since 2006. The vineyards are managed organically. These three flagships, single vineyard wines are naturally fermented, with some skin contact, 90% in stainless steel, 10% in barrel.

Pressing Matters Chardonnay

Product Description: Cool-climate precision meets old-vine depth. Pressing Matters Chardonnay 2022 comes from the Coal River Valley, where small parcels of fruit are hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed before a slow, wild-yeast ferment in French oak barriques. A quarter of the barrels are new, bringing gentle texture without overwhelming the fruit. The vineyard’s history is woven into the wine. The earliest Chardonnay vines were planted in 1990 at Morningside, with more recent additions in 2020 extending the estate’s range of clones. This mix of heritage and new plantings underpins a wine that balances bright, natural acidity with layers of stone fruit, citrus zest and finely judged oak. It’s a contemporary Tasmanian Chardonnay that speaks clearly of site, season and thoughtful winemaking. The Maker Two families brought together from a love of wine supported by a passionate and talented team. Greg Melick and wife Michelle founded Pressing Matters in 2002, inspired by the potential of the neighbouring Morningside Vineyard to produce the noble European varieties of Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet. The first vintage was in 2006.Greg's love of Mosel and Burgundy wines inspires Pressing Matters but Greg’s role as father and grandfather are his proudest achievements. Not long after, the opportunity to unite the Morningside vineyard with Pressing Matters saw the Hall family join the Melicks as partners in late 2019. A friendship formed from a love of burgundy and holidays shared in the family home in Meursault now fuels the next stage of the Pressing Matters story. Significant investment in a new winery, tasting room and general infrastructure and new plantings are some of the first steps of the partnership. Philosophy At Pressing Matters, the philosophy is simple: allow the land and the fruit to speak for themselves. With a focus on low intervention, the winemaking process is designed to highlight the purity of the fruit and the distinctiveness of the Coal River Valley terroir. By using a range of Riesling clones and managing vine density to maximise flavour concentration, Pressing Matters produces wines with true character and balance. Their approach is reflected in the four levels of sweetness they offer, each crafted with precision to cater to different tastes while staying true to the spirit of Riesling. The R9 Riesling, dry and vibrant, encapsulates this commitment to producing wines that are both exceptional in quality and perfectly suited to the local environment. Pressing Matters continues to push the boundaries of what Tasmania can offer, creating wines that are fresh, zesty, and unforgettable. Tasting Notes NOSE – Stone fruit lift Aromas of white peach, lemon curd and subtle oak spice. PALATE – Citrus and drive Nectarine, citrus zest and a touch of toasted almond carried by fresh acidity. Savaterre Frere Cadet Chardonnay

Occasionally, when rare parcels of particularly outstanding Beechworth grapes become available, Savaterre's wine maker Keppell Smith likes to create something unique, like this Chardonnay, and bottle it under Savaterre's Frere Cadet (Younger Brother) label. These wines are created with the same attention to detail that goes into their premium Savaterre label.
