Tomich Wines Woodside Vineyard Adelaide Hills Pinot Grigio
Look forward to fleshy pear and nectarine aromas, followed by a crisp and refreshing palate that's a wonderful mix of fresh cut pear, nectarine and musk. Zesty on the palate with a stone‐fruit and pear and a fine finish.
Château La Clarière Blanc
Lying on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, Castillon is known for clarets – its reds! Indeed the appellation officially may only produce red wines, but that hasn’t stopped the team at Château La Clarière. They wanted to make a white of equally fine standing. So they planted two vineyards on the estate, on terroir particularly suited to white grapes, with both Sauvignons Gris and Blanc, and have reaped the awards ever since – a Trophy and 18 Golds since its launch. Blended from bright Sauvignon Blanc and richer Sauvignon Gris, oak fermented and lees aged for almost a year in part-new oak barrels, it's reminiscent of the grand wines of Pessac Léognan. Best enjoyed from spring 2024, with sauced white meat or fish. Or cellar to allow layers of complexity to develop. Hard to argue with 3 Golds!
Monty's Leap Great Southern Riesling
93pt Riesling from vineyards in WA's remote Great Southern. "It's finely scented on the nose, revealing lime cordial, green apple, lemon zest, and wet limestone nuances, followed by a finely flowing palate that's focused and persistent. Splendidly structured by racy acidity, finishing persistent and linear. 93pts" (Sam Kim, Wine Orbit). For Ray Jordan it is "… a slightly riper and more generous style of riesling, especially on the nose, where you pick up more opulent notes of stone fruit and a little honey-like nectar. Yet the palate tightens up as it should, revealing a minerally, spicy character, with citrus tangs building. It has a fine talcy acidity and the flavour and palate are long. It’s a nice wine, especially in the medium term. 91pts". Phil Shilcock and Michelle Gray purchased the former Montgomery’s Hill in October 2017 and launched the Monty’s Leap brand. The mature vineyard (planted in 1996) is planted on the banks of the Kalgan River, 16km northeast of Albany.
Hay Shed Hill Chardonnay
One of the best value Margaret River Chardonnays out there. Michael Kerrigan is doing an amazing job producing Chardonnays of elegance. Corryton Burge Exclusive Versus Sparkling White
Springs Road Kangaroo Island Chardonnay
94pt, Great Value Kangaroo Island Chardonnay with "Fermented in French oak (20% new) followed by a short maturation before bottling. Inviting and rich scents of nougat and lemon curd stuffed panettone, with a pulsing quartz-led mineral note. This is a step up from previous vintages, the fruit cleaner, and the resultant wine is better for it. Peach, lime zest, white nectarine and grapefruit lead, before a gentle thrum of saline saltiness ripples through the fruit as it reaches the shore's edge. A solid offering.94pts" (Katrina Butler, The Halliday Wine Companion)
Beklyn Currency Creek Sauvignon Blanc
Don't miss this Great Value "seriosly good" (Wine Orbit) Sauvignon with scores of 95 and 92pts. Sam Kim Wine Orbit loves its "...concentrated palate offering pristine fruit flavours with fine texture and vibrant acidity, finishing impressively long and exuberant." “Passionfruit, winter melon and gooseberry notes at the fore, with garden rose and honeysuckle florals emulating morning walks in spring. This sees some oak influence, and it marries harmoniously with fruit. A pretty wine with a creamy, velvety mouthfeel. 92pts. Great Value” (Katrina Butler, The Halliday Wine Companion).
